A New Dawn: Celebrating the Oloola- Elect with Wisdom and Grace by Prince Tosin Adeluyi
As the news of the Oba elect spread like wildfire, the town erupted in jubilation, with congratulatory messages, eulogies, and well-wishing pouring in from far and wide.
The people’s acceptance of their new king was a resounding affirmation of their trust and faith in his leadership. It was a moment of great joy, as the community came together to celebrate this significant milestone.
As the saying goes, “a king’s crown is not made of gold, but of the love of his people.” The Oba elect has indeed earned the love and respect of his subjects, and it is fitting that we celebrate his ascension to the throne with pomp and ceremony.
However, as we bask in the glory of this momentous occasion, let us not forget the wise words of Proverbs 29:2, “When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan.” May our Oba elect always remember that his reign is a sacred trust, and that he must rule with wisdom, justice, and compassion.
As Romans 13:1 reminds us, “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.”
To the co-contestants, we say, “all is well that ends well.” Let us accept the outcome with grace and humility, recognizing that “only God appoints kings” (Quran 2:246). Let us not pursue legal matters that may further divide our community, but rather, let us come together in the spirit of unity and cooperation.
The absence of an Oba in our town has indeed hindered our progress and development, but with the Oba elect at the helm, we can now look forward to a brighter future. As the Bible says, “where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18). May our Oba elect provide the vision and leadership that will propel our community forward.
In the words of the Yoruba proverb, “a king’s reign is like a masquerade’s dance – it is fleeting, so let us enjoy it while it lasts.” May our Oba elect remember that his reign is a temporary privilege, and that he must use his time wisely to serve the people and glorify God.
As 1 Samuel 10:1 reminds us, “Then Samuel took a flask of oil and poured it on Saul’s head and kissed him, saying, ‘Has not the Lord anointed you to be prince over his people Israel?
And you shall reign over the people of the Lord and you will save them from the hand of their enemies around them. And this shall be the sign to you that the Lord has anointed you to be prince over his heritage.'”
In conclusion, let us continue to celebrate our Oba elect with joy and gratitude, while also reminding him of the weighty responsibilities that come with his new role.
May he rule with wisdom, justice, and compassion, and may our community flourish under his leadership. As Psalm 72:1-4 says, “Give the king your justice, O God, and your righteousness to a king’s son.
May he judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice. May the mountains yield prosperity for the people, and the hills, in righteousness. May the king defend the cause of the poor of the people, give deliverance to the children of the needy.”
May our Oba elect be guided by these wise words and may his reign be a blessing to our community.
