“Confrontation with VIO Contradicts our Values”- Customs Reacts to Viral Video
A video making the round on social media shows Customs officers in a direct confrontation with the officers of the Vehicle Inspection Office.
While this has raised controversy about the conduct of men of Nigeria Customs, reactions from the Customs National PRO Abdullahi Maiwada sets the record straight.
Maiwada in a release on Tuesday 28th of May says the organization of Nigeria Customs frowns at unprofessional conducts and is committed to best practices that foster inclusion of sister security agencies.
“The Service wishes to express its deepest concern and empathy for those affected by this regrettable incident”.
“The NCS unequivocally dissociate itself from the actions of these officers. Their condemned behaviour, which appears to be self-motivated, is under thorough investigation, and appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken to forestall future occurrences”.
The National PRO emphasised that the operational standards of the NCS gave no room for fights with lawful members of public and sister agencies
And that such behaviour undermines a key policy thrusts of the CGC Adewale Adeniyi, on collaboration with sister security agencies and stakeholders for the security of Nigerians.
“The Service remains steadfast in its mission to generate revenue, facilitate trade, and suppress smuggling to support a more robust and secure economy for all Nigerians.” Maiwada concludes.
