New Dawn for Ilara-Yewa as Oloola receives Staff of Office
For the people of Ilara-Yewa, it’s a celebration of culture, tradition and spiritual significance, witnessing the ascension of a new Royal, after four years of vaccum in succession process.
It would be recalled as reported by CMnews that Ọba Mutiu Alani Adedimeji Oyede-Lawal was selected by the Faningbe/Igbaka ruling house, and elected by the king-makers and the traditional council of Ilara Land, following a long judicial hold up that ended in stalemate.
It was a declaration of victory for the people of Ilara-Yewa and Oba Oyede-Lawal whom on his entry to the traditional seclusion and rituals, was again faced with bureaucratic delay in his official approval by the State Government chieftaincy administration.
In high spirit and festivities, Oba Mutiu Adedimeji Oyede-Lawal is presented the staff of office as the 6th Oloola of Ilara-Yewa on the 20th day of July 2024 after the uncharacteristic long wait, and what seems to be a battle to the throne.
Ilara-Yewa is a major town of commerce in Imeko-Afon, hosting the largest market in the local government, and a destination of choice for farm produce merchants and foreign exchange with the neighbouring Republic of Benin.
